A study on the cultivation model of international communication talents for English majors based on the Understanding Contemporary China series courses

摘要
在中华文化走出去与国家国际传播能力建设战略背景下,我国高校英语专业承担着培养高素质外宣人才、讲好中国故事的重要使命。当前高校英语专业教学聚焦语言核心技能与基础人文素养培育,成效显著,但在外宣人才专项培养层面,仍存在优化空间:学生外宣话语意识与中国叙事能力有待进一步提升,跨文化传播与文化阐释能力有待持续加强,课堂教学与外宣实践应用的融合度有待深化,上述提升空间使得学生整体外宣能力尚未完全适配国家战略发展需求。为此,大连民族大学外国语学院英语专业自2022年起,以《理解当代中国》系列课程为核心载体,构建分阶段、递进式的外宣能力培养模式,开设读写中国故事、讲述与传播中国故事、翻译中国故事三门阶梯课程,结合多样化实践活动与赛课一体化教学模式,系统提升学生的中国叙事能力、话语表达能力、文化传播素养与跨文化实践应用能力。实践表明,该培养模式有效补足了现有教学中的专项培养短板,育人成效良好,可为国内高校英语专业外宣人才培养提供实践参考,助力中华文化更好走向世界。

Abstract
Against the strategic backdrop of enhancing the global outreach of Chinese culture and strengthening national international communication capacity, the English majors in colleges and universities undertake the important mission of cultivating high-quality talents for international publicity and telling Chinese stories well. Current English talent training in domestic colleges and universities has achieved remarkable results in cultivating students ’core language skills and basic humanistic literacy, while there is still room for improvement in the targeted cultivation of international publicity competence: students’ awareness of international publicity discourse and ability of narrating China need to be further enhanced, their cross-cultural communication and cultural interpretation ability require continuous improvement, and the integration of classroom teaching and practical international publicity practice needs to be deepened. The above gaps make students ’ overall international publicity competence not fully meet the needs of national strategy. To address these gaps, the English Department at the School of Foreign Languages, Dalian Minzu University, has built a phased and progressive international publicity competence training model centered on the Understanding Contemporary China series courses since 2022. Three core courses are offered, namely Reading and Writing China ’ s Stories, Narrating and Communicating China’s Stories, and Translating China’ s Stories. Combined with diverse practical activities and an integrated competition-teaching model, the program has systematically improved students ’ Chinese narrative ability, discourse expression ability, cultural communication literacy and cross-cultural practical application ability. Practice has proved that this training model effectively supplements the targeted training shortcomings in current teaching and achieves sound effects. It can provide practical references for international publicity talent training in college English majors nationwide, and further boost the global dissemination of Chinese culture.
